HR Tech Conference Recap: Performance Cultures and Talent Management

on October 27, 2015

We’re back from Las Vegas and the 18th Annual HR Technology Conference & Expo, and still in the afterglow of what was a very informative, exciting and successful event for PeopleFluent. After spending a few days with thousands of our closest HR peers, partners, customers, industry analysts and experts, it’s clear that the market for HR technology has never been bigger – and that PeopleFluent is in a great position to deliver the solutions today’s companies need to optimize their people strategies.

The event kicked off with an engaging keynote by Marcus Buckingham, New York Times bestselling author and founder of The Marcus Buckingham Company, on the subject of performance management. He discussed the need for a new approach to the process, which starts with recognizing that performance and engagement happen on the team level. He addressed the limits of ratingless performance reviews and how the entire performance review process can be modernized to drive employee performance. In order to effectively manage your workforce, you must clearly define what success looks like, and you must measure it in some way  - just perhaps not with a traditional rating system.

Bookending the conference was a keynote by Red Hat’s James Whitehurst on the power of openness. A cultural transformation that leads companies to be more transparent, he contended, is key to staying ahead of the competition and fueling greater levels of passion, engagement and performance among the team. In order to drive that cultural shift, managers and HR must be equipped with the right technology that delivers transparency and understanding and facilitates open communication within organizations.

In between these thought-provoking keynotes, we conducted live demos of our industry-leading solutions right from our booth on the expo floor. This gave us the unique opportunity to not only talk to attendees about how our solutions can help them transform their people strategies, but enable them to see these products in action. These presentations included demos of our advanced recruiting solutions that help companies hire the right people faster, our compensation solution that facilitates effective and compliant pay for performance strategies, and our workforce planning platform that helps employers visualize the workforce and protect the bottom line.

We also had the opportunity to deliver a full-suite demo of our best-in-class total talent management suite under the spotlight of the larger theater room. Based on the reaction from the audience, it’s clear our suite struck a chord with attendees looking to enhance their entire talent management processes via a single unified platform.

In addition to meeting with the HR leaders and practitioners in attendance, we also spoke with many of the top HR technology analysts in the industry today. In discussing our latest innovations and product development roadmap, we got to show the leading experts how PeopleFluent is defining the future of total talent acquisition and talent management through solutions built around people, not HR processes.

All in all, the 2015 HR Tech Conference was a great experience for everyone who was there. Not only did we get to highlight our offerings, but in speaking with visitors to our booth, we got to learn more about what today’s HR professionals are looking for in their technology solutions. We’ll certainly keep these concerns in mind as we continue to create new innovations to further enhance how companies manage their people.
