Learning Technologies 2019: Our Highlights from the Conference

Last week, the PeopleFluent team attended the renowned Learning Technologies conference for the first time. Find out more about our highlights from the event in this blog.

Learning Technologies is Europe's leading showcase of organizational learning and the technology used to support learning at work. This year, it was held at the ExCeL London, where over 8,500 visitors packed out the exhibition hall and conference over a very busy two days.

2019 marked the first year that PeopleFluent attended the event alongside their colleagues within LTG plc, LEO Learning, Eukleia, PRELOADED, Watershed and gomo.

Putting Learning at the Heart of Talent Strategy

As part of a combined ‘LTG presents’ stand, the People Fluent team was on hand to talk to visitors about how we can help organizations ‘put learning at the heart of talent management’.

We had some great conversations with visitors who now recognize the role that learning plays as part of a successful talent management strategy.

The PeopleFluent product suite, now bolstered with the addition of Learning products such as NetDimensions LMS and gomo, can help organizations make the vital link between learning and talent management—and it was exciting to see the value of these products recognized, as well as the extended capabilities our clients can now access as part of the wider LTG group.

Learn More, Be Compliant, Grow Business, Measure Impact

We understand that organizations in highly-regulated industries face a range of competitive pressures and compliance risks, as well as the pressure to measure the impact and success of their investments.

That’s why in our seminar session, ‘Learn More, Be Compliant, Grow Business, Measure Impact’, we presented a showcase of exactly how the PeopleFluent Learning suite, alongside products from our LTG partners, can help organizations meet these types of challenges as part of a connected learning ecosystem.

Ali Zaheer, our Senior Solutions Consultant, presented a live demo which demonstrated:

  • How the NetDimensions LMS can provide detailed tracking on compliance activity
  • The benefits of using the Resource Planner feature in NetDimensions LMS to help L&D teams plan face-to-face training
  • Why using a sales enablement tool, like gomo Video, can effectively enable social and collaborative learning
  • The value of a mobile LMS to deliver just-in-time learning
  • How a learning analytics platform, such as Watershed, can be used to gain insight on the effectiveness of learning programs and their impact on business performance
  • How organizational chart software can make your employee directory dynamic and ensure information is always accurate—as well as helping employees understand matrixed teams with an intuitive visualization of the organization

The Future of Work and How the Right Learning and Talent Strategy Can Help

Running alongside the main exhibition was a two-day speaker program featuring leading experts in learning and development, who shared their insights on a range of critical industry topics.

A key overall theme this year was an exploration of the rise of automation and machine learning, and the implications of this on the future of work.

It was very interesting to hear the thoughts of Daniel Susskind, a leading researcher in this area. He posited what many of us here at PeopleFluent expect: namely, that to prosper in the changing world of work will require the ability to rapidly retrain and upskill the workforce. This strategy will ensure employees can take on new tasks and adapt to changes, as automation replaces activities previously undertaken by human employees.

This line of thinking closely echoes the thoughts of our Chief Strategy Officer at LTG, Piers Lea, who has spoken extensively about the importance of bringing together talent management and learning to enable organizations to prosper in a rapidly changing working landscape.

All in all, it was a fascinating and busy couple of days for the PeopleFluent Learning team, but we’re already looking forward to our return next year!
